Summer/Autumn Hours:
Monday 1st December 2025 – Thursday 30th April 2026: Open Daily (except Christmas eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, & Waitangi Day).
Winter/Spring Hours:
1st May 2026 – 30th November 2026: Open weekends, school holidays, public holidays and group bookings (10 persons+ only).

Getting to Te-Hāwere-a-Maki Goat Island Marine Discovery Centre
A short and scenic 1.25 hour drive from Auckland CBD, park up in the DOC carpark and walk down (250m) the hill, past the beach and along the signs to the Discovery Centre. Only disability parking and drop-offs are available outside the centre in the University carpark, all other cars will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Where to find us
160 Goat Island Road, Leigh 0985, Auckland.
From the car parking area, walk down the hill to Goat Island beach, continue across the beach and up the other side following the signs along the path. It is a short 7-minute walk.
